TEACHING ON A COLLEGIATE LEVEL SINCE 2010.

COLLEGIATE CERAMIC ARTS EDUCATOR

Gas reduction Soda kilns are a specialty firing atmosphere for Brad and his work. He leads hands-on kiln firing workshops for college students, guiding them through every stage of the process—from kiln loading and firing techniques to unloading and evaluating finished work. Students actively participate in each step, gaining practical experience with kiln mechanics, firing atmospheres, and ceramic surface development. By the end of the workshop, they leave with their own fired pieces and a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship and science behind the ceramic art form.

Bradley offers immersive raku firing workshops for students, where participants engage in the full process—from glazing and unconventional loading to live reduction firing and post-firing cleanup. Attendees experience the excitement and unpredictability of raku, learning about thermal shock, rapid cooling, and the effects of reduction on glaze surfaces with various reduction materials. Each student leaves with unique, finished ceramic pieces and a hands-on appreciation for the dynamic, experimental nature of raku pottery.

CERAMIC TECHNIQUES DEMONSTRATION

Bradley B Pottery offers engaging and fun ceramic demonstrations that include wheel throwing, coil building, and slab construction techniques, making the creative process accessible and educational for all skill levels. These presentations are enriched with historical context and insights drawn from Brad’s years of living and studying ceramics in China, where he explored traditional forms, glazes, and kiln technologies. By blending hands-on technique with cultural heritage, Brad provides a deeper understanding of the global roots and enduring beauty of ceramic art.
